Poll indicates 57% of Mexicans favor the formation of “community police” vigilante groups
The opinion poll was conducted in February by Parametría. 800 households responded to the survey and 5 out of 10 people thought that the “community police” groups help the authorities fight crime.
The first vigilante groups took up arms in Guerrero, but they can now be found in 12 other states: Sonora, Hidalgo, Chihuahua, Veracruz, Tabasco, Chiapas, Oaxaca, Puebla, Morelos, Jalisco, Michoacán and Estado de México.
